A little history: Glenn Hubbard, the Dean of CBS, was hoping to be appointed Chairman of the Federal Reserve when Alan Greenspan retired. As the former chairman of the president's Council of Economic Advisors, this wasn't an outlandish suspicion on his part. Instead, Bush named Ben Bernanke to the post.
